Dear Families,
As we begin this school year, we reaffirm our shared commitment to building a community where every student feels respected, valued, and safe. Tompkins Square Middle School is a school committed to creating brave spaces for all community members. We believe that building an inclusive, welcoming environment is a collective responsibility. By embracing our core values we aim to create a space where students explore who they are and who they want to be in the world as developing middle school students.
In order to further support this mission, we are sharing essential resources that outline both citywide and school-specific guidelines to support a positive school climate. These include the NYC Public Schools Discipline Code, the Respect for All Regulations, and the Student Bill of Rights, which set clear expectations for behavior and provide a framework for maintaining a respectful and safe learning environment.
We encourage families to review these resources and engage in conversations at home about the importance of celebrating differences and promoting respect for all. We believe that through open dialogue and collective action, we can continue to nurture a community that champions equity, inclusivity, and care for one another.
Your partnership in these efforts is invaluable, and we look forward to working together throughout the school year.
Warm regards,
Sonhando Estwick
